True Acne Causes

There are many true acne causes. People from all walks of life and all ages can develop acne, and causes can be different for each type of breakout. If you have acne, the first step is to understand why you have it and what you can do to take care of it. You also need to know what your skin type is, because this will affect how you take care of it. For example, if you have oily skin, your facial cleanser should be water-based, because you need to get rid of excess oil instead of add to it.

By the same token, if you have dry skin, you won't necessarily want to use a cleanser that is oil free, because you'll need some additional moisture to help your dry skin in spite of your acne breakouts. Even if you have oily skin, though, you will still need to moisturize it. With this, you'll want to use a water-based moisturizer, again so that you don't add to the oil amount your skin is already producing in excess.

Here, we'll talk about some of the possible causes of acne and help you figure out what might be causing yours.

The skin is the human body's largest organ. As with every other organ in your body, you must take care of your skin properly to make sure it's going to be its healthiest and work its best for you.

Topical acne treatments affect the surface of your skin. You can help keep pores open, eliminate excess oil and dirt, and get rid of bacteria with these, so that you help minimize acne breakouts. In some cases, if a topical treatment doesn't work, you can also try to take medications orally that will help eliminate excess oils by keeping your body from producing them at all. In addition, there are other medical remedies that can help treat acne. Before you treat, though, you need to understand the cause of it.

Hormones can be a major factor in acne's appearance. With adolescents, the body goes through many changes that can cause breakouts. During the adult years, bodily changes can also cause acne, such as premenstrual or perimenopausal hormone fluctuations. Any hormonal imbalances can cause acne, but male hormones such as testosterone are most often the cause.

These hormones make the body produce more oil, which further can block pores and cause more breakouts. If you use products that help eliminate or control oil, this may help control your acne and thwart further breakouts.

Another cause of acne can be stress. If you are stressed, the body releases certain chemicals, which in turn can cause imbalances that can contribute to acne breakouts. Eliminate stress as much as possible by staying away from stressful situations or rebalancing your life so that they become less common.

Diet can also be a factor in acne breakouts. For example, in some cases, sugar and chocolate or excess fat, can cause acne breakouts. Some people believe that these are myths, but if you feel that a certain food is causing a breakout, eliminate it temporarily from your diet and see if that helps. Your doctor can also help you avoid certain foods that may cause further breakouts.

There are many kinds of acne, so there can be many causes as well. Your environment can affect your acne, and your lifestyle can as well. In addition, the products you put on your face can also cause or help control breakouts. Again, if your skin is oily, don't use products that contain oil, because this will simply add to the oil in your skin. Keep your skin properly hydrated and moisturized.

Drink enough water and use a water-based moisturizer to help soften your skin. This also helps with exfoliation, which in turn can be another way to reduce acne breakouts. Learn what your particular skin care regime is based upon your skin type; follow it religiously so that acne breakouts are as controlled as possible. If done properly, your skin will be healthier and you will be, too.
